FAQ

  • Lundhs Real Stone is a natural stone. It is quarried from the mountainside and is not a manufactured material.

  • A natural stone kitchen countertop is defined by the stone being quarried from its natural place of origin in the earth. It is then cut and machined into a final product without any alteration to the natural composition or appearance of the material.

  • Quartz is an engineered product, unlike natural stone. Materials such as quartz is made of quartz mineral ingredients that have been reconstituted with cement or resin binders and are therefore not completely natural in their composition.

  • Lundhs Real Stone is made up of four different materials – Lundhs Blue (Larvikite), Lundhs Emerald (Larvikite), Lundhs Royal (Larvikite) and Lundhs Antique (Anorthosite).

  • The unique qualities, such as the high density and non-porous nature of the Larvikite and Anorthosite materials, make Lundhs Real Stone countertops the perfect choice for your kitchen countertop.

All Lundhs Real Stone work surfaces are non-absorbent, heat resistant, waterproof, highly resistant to scratching and easy to maintain.

  • Yes, due to the high density you can prepare food directly on your Lundhs Real Stone kitchen countertop. The density of the natural stone also makes it non-absorbent.

  • A complex blend of beautiful feldspar crystals, Larvikite was formed by a magmatic (volcanic) reaction about 300 million years ago. The magma then hardened deep in the earth’s crust under high pressure and temperature. As the magma slowly cooled, the crystals that were formed became uniform and similar in size. Larvikite is often referred to as granite due to its hard surface.

  • Larvikite is unique and can be found only in Norway. It is named after the city of Larvik, close to our quarries. Larvikite is also Norway's national stone.

  • Our natural stone, called Anorthosite, was formed by a magmatic (volcanic) reaction about 1000 million years ago. The magma hardened deep down the earth’s crust under high pressure and temperature (around 1000 degrees C). It cooled slowly, resulting in the crystals that were formed becoming uniform and similar in size. Anorthosite is often referred to as granite due to its hard surface.

  • The maximum size (of your new kitchen countertop) is 10,8 x 5,9 ft.

  • The price of natural stones depends mostly upon availability, but also on the location of quarries, the rarity of the color and the amount of labor required to extract the stones.

  • Lundhs’ materials are 100% natural and extremely resistant to daily wear and tear. It is not necessary to seal it, but most of the factories will put a resin solution on all stone that they manufacture.

  • Yes, due to the very high density, we consider our natural stone one the most durable materials in the world. This is supported by its technical properties and by the minimal change in appearance over time of the material when it has been used in projects.

  • A high gloss polished surface is the most popular finish. This surface finish reflects the light beautifully, mirroring the surroundings and making the blue crystals sparkle. A silk polished surface has an elegant matte and lightly structured finish. This provides a softer and more subtle look than the high gloss finish. Beneath the soft matte texture, crystals still catch the light and sparkle softly. Both the polished and the silk surfaces are easy to clean and require minimal maintenance.
