Thor Lundh, Founder of Lundhs
The story of Lundhs began more than 100 years ago when Alfred Lundh came to Norway from Sweden to manage one of the largest quarrying companies at the time.
In 1962, Alfred's grandson Thor Lundh decided to start his own quarrying company. At the time, the company was called Lundhs Labradoreksport, but is today known as Lundhs.
There were some tough years in the beginning, but eventually the company became a significant player in the production of Larvikite.
In the late 70s and early 80s, Treschow-Fritzøe established the company Fritzøe Blue Pearl AS, which also became a well-established player in the industry.
In 1996, a major shift occurred within the Larvikite industry, when the Treschow and Lundh families chose to merge their quarrying companies in a 50-50 partnership.
At the time, there were nearly 20 companies and the merger laid a solid foundation for restructuring the industry, which has played an important role in Lundhs becoming Northern Europe's leading player today.
