In the heart of South Korea’s capital, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has opened the Garden of Gratitude, a public memorial dedicated to freedom, peace and international cooperation. The installation is located at Gwanghwamun Square, one of the city’s most visited public spaces, and honours the veterans and nations that contributed during the Korean War.
The memorial consists of 23 monumental stone structures. Each structure is 6.25 metres high and incorporates natural stone donated by participating nations, symbolising unity, gratitude and solidarity across borders.
Lundhs has supplied Lundhs Blue® Larvikite for the Norwegian contribution to the project. The stone comes from Lundhs’ quarry in Tvedalen, near Larvik, and is one of Norway’s best-known Larvikites, characterized by its deep blue background and vivid blue crystals. With its natural strength, lasting quality and distinctive appearance, Lundhs Blue® is well suited for monuments and projects designed to stand for generations.
For Lundhs, it is an honour to contribute Norwegian natural stone to a project carrying such a powerful message of peace and solidarity.
