The Natural Stone Institute (NSI) is launching the Thor Lundh Quarrier Award – a new honorary award that recognizes outstanding contributions to the extraction of natural stone. The award highlights key individuals in the quarrying industry who have made a mark on the industry.

A pioneer: Thor Lund founded Lundhs in 1962.

The Natural Stone Institute (NSI) in the United States, is launching the “Thor Lundh Quarrier Award,” a new industry award that will honor exceptional contributions to the extraction of natural stone. The award will be presented to an NSI member who has demonstrated outstanding performance within their company, and contributed to the development of the industry. NSI highlights the importance of the quarrying industry, and wishes to recognize key individuals who have made a difference with this award.


The award is named after Thor Lundh, the founder of Lundhs AS and a pioneer in the industrialization of larvikite production in Norway. His vision and willingness to take risks have contributed to the development of both local and international jobs, as well as the establishment of Lundhs as a global brand. The company has been at the forefront of industry change and continues to focus on sustainable production.
