The old library, Gamle Deichmanske at Hammersborg in Oslo, is being reimagined as Deich, a new photo-led cultural destination set to open in 2028.

The project is developed by Møller Eiendom, who purchased the building from Oslo Municipality in 2020, working closely with Lundhagem as architects on the revitalization of the historic library building from 1933.

The house is being shaped into a vibrant cultural hub, with welcoming eateries, lively cafés and a photo centre, with Fotografiska as a key part of the program.

At the heart of the transformation are the materials that carry its story forward: the columns in the main hall are crafted from Lundhs Emerald® larvikite, quarried in Larvik, carefully protected throughout the works as the building is restored for its next chapter as Deich.

We look forward to see the finished result in 2028.
