Following the first conversation between Lundhs and Studio Folk Architects, Stone Specialist has published the second instalment of When Architects Meet Quarries. The conversation takes a closer look at Larvikite itself – from the distinctive optical effect created by its feldspar crystals to how colour, quality and block size influence its final application. It also explores how each block is classified and registered, providing traceability throughout the value chain.

The discussion also moves beyond the finished stone to consider how more of the quarried resource can be put to use, including surplus material, aggregates and even stone dust, as well as the work being done to protect biodiversity and restore areas of the quarry once extraction has ended.
