From 10–12 June, Lundhs was present at Framing – Odd Fellow Palace in Copenhagen, where Norwegian design and industry companies came together as part of the Inside Norway exhibition.

Here, we presented the collaboration Matre + Lundhs Real Stone, featuring the iconic Tube tables, originally designed by Norwegian designer Sigurd Resell in 1971, now reintroduced with tabletops in Norwegian natural stone from Lundhs.

The collaboration demonstrates how Norwegian furniture history can gain new relevance through considered material choices. The precise steel tube construction is given a natural contrast through the stone’s weight, depth and variation, while Resell’s original design language is preserved. The result is a meeting between Norwegian design heritage, local materials and skilled craftsmanship.

Materials with meaning

For Lundhs, participating in 3daysofdesign is about more than presenting products. It is also about contributing to the conversation around how materials are chosen, used and understood within architecture and design.

During this year’s programme, Line Møller Mærsk from Lundhs joined the talk “Where is design education headed, and what is our role in shaping the built environment?” The conversation was initiated by Madeleine K. Wieser from OsloMet and moderated by Ragnhild Bakkland Grytten from Norsk Industri. Together with representatives from Gudbrandsdalens Uldvarefabrik and Norsk Hydro, the panel discussed how design education can contribute to a more conscious understanding of materials, origin and longevity.

For Lundhs, engaging with the next generation of architects and designers is important. Collaborating with students and educational institutions gives us new perspectives on our materials, while helping ensure that natural stone is considered early in the processes that shape future solutions.

Norwegian natural stone in new contexts

3daysofdesign provided a valuable setting to show how Norwegian natural stone can be used in modern design in a relevant and lasting way. Through the collaboration with Matre, the material is introduced into a new context where function, aesthetics and origin all play a central role.

We hope to inspire architects, interior architects and designers to explore new possibilities in Norwegian materials, shorter value chains and local production. Material choice is not only a question of expression. It is also about quality, resource use and longevity.
